On March 3, 2007, the Tupelo Middle School Science Bowl Team-Alexander Nadler, Nathan Oakes, Mikhail Gaerlan, Sarahanne Davidson, and Walker Hannah-competed in the Regional Middle School Science Bowl held on the campus of Mississippi School of Math and Science. Team members were quizzed in a fast-paced question-and-answer format covering a variety of disciplines including earth, physical, life and general science and math.

Tupelo Middle played Pearl River Central Middle School in the semifinals and advanced to play North Pontotoc in the finals. At the break, Tupelo was down 4-22, but made a resounding come back to win with a final score of 54-22.
The Tupelo team will represent the region at the National Science Bowl Finals in Denver, CO, on June 21-24.
