The site also includes many student-focused services at assist in choosing a college and understanding financial aid. Students can also search for scholarships on this site. eCampusTours.com is a free service provided by Edfinancial services, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to creating access to higher education.
The MSU Promise Program is a new award designed to help entering freshmen and entering community college transfer students from low income Mississippi families attend Mississippi State University by ensuring that their tuition and required fees will be paid with gift/grant student aid. Students who have a 3.0 or better core high school GPA and who have a total family income of $30,000 or less are eligible for the MSU Promise Program. If you are interested in Tuskegee University and the Army ROTC program there are numerous scholarships available. If you are interested in attending Wafford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, you may qualify for the Bonner Scholars Program. This is a unique scholarship opportunity for students who are committed to community service and who have EXTENSIVE FINANCIAL NEED. The Students Conserving America program is looking for students for their high school Conservation Crew members for the summer of 2007. Students will spend a month on a conservation project where they work on a conserve public land. They complete projects such as building rails. shelters, bridges, restoring habitats and maintaining historic sites. Through adult-supervised Conservation Crews, students can be given an opportunity to build leadership skills, work with diverse groups of people from all over the United States, and to travel to some of the nation's most spectacular national parks and forests. Women First Scholarship Fund: This scholarship was established in 2001 for a graduating high school student in North Mississippi, male or female, who has lost a first degree relative to breast cancer. The scholarship is in the amount of $500. Women First is a non-profit organization that provides physical and emotional support to women through caring, awareness and education. The scholarship is made possible through their breast cancer fund. You must have a 2.0 GPA and live in Northeast Mississippi. You will also be required to write a two to three page essay. The Stan Maxcy Scholarship is available if you plan to attend Pharmacy School (after Pre-Pharmacy) at the University of Mississippi. This is not for entering freshmen; it is only for college students who have been accepted into Pharmacy School. Preference is given to Lee County students. JUNIOR MISS SCHOLARSHIP: This is a one-time award of $1,000 to be used the freshman year to the local winner of the Junior Miss Pageant (no first or second alternate awards)
GOLD AWARD/EAGLE SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP: This is a one-time award of $1,000 ($500 per semester) and is in addition to any other scholarship for which the student may qualify. The criteria are as follows:
*Must have earned the level of Eagle Scout or Gold Award
*Must have a core GPA of 2.5 as calculated by Mississippi State University for freshmen
*Live in Mississippi and/or awarded from a Mississippi based council
*Recipients must be admissible to Mississippi State and enroll as full-time students the semester in which they receive the award and remain in good standing while receiving the award
THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI ARMY ROTC PROGRAM: This program offers full ride scholarships to seniors even if they have never participated in a high school JROTC program. They are not looking for students to enlist but for men and women who seek to become a commissioned lieutenant in the United States Army, United States Army Reserve or the Mississippi National Guard. The recipients of this scholarship should be strong scholar-athlete-leaders. Harvard University has announced a program to pay the tuition for honor students in families earning $60,000 or less per year. The institution also has announced reduced fees for students from families with incomes between $60,000 and $80,000. This year, the Sallie Mae Fund will make education dreams come true for about 1,000 underserved students planning to attend a college in the fall by awarding more than $2.5 million in college scholarships. Applications for these scholarships are now available online at http://qe10.net/r/?ZXU=341183&ZXD=4996287 . To be eligible for Sallie Mae Fund scholarship programs, students must be accepted and plan to enroll as an undergraduate at a Title IV eligible, approved, accredited, postsecondary, two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States or Puerto Rico. VALEDICTORIAN/SALUTATORIAN SCHOLARSHIP: This is a one-time award of $1,000 (valedictorian) or $500 (salutatorian). The criteria are:
*Students must officially be named valedictorian or salutatorian by their high school
*Must submit a letter of verification by a high school counselor, principal or other high school official by June 30, 2007.
