Red Ribbon Week is an annual event at Thomas Street. This year during the week of October 22-26 we focused on the importance of taking care of our bodies and our minds. In an attempt to educate our students about the effects of drug abuse, students participated each day in a drug education activity. We had so much support from the community! The Tupelo Police Department, the Tupelo Fire Department, the American Heart Association, North Mississippi Medical Center, and the Tupelo Middle School National Junior Honor Society came and provided "lessons in action." Tupelo High School cheerleaders, football players, baseball players, Tupelo Middle School soccer, basketball, and tennis players participated in our school wide assembly. In addition cheerleaders from Ole Miss and Mississippi State came to help promote healthy lifestyles. Thursday morning the drummers from Tupelo Middle School came and led our parade as our children marched and chanted their classroom cheers. It was an exciting week!!!!
