As a line of severe thunderstorms and potential for damaging winds and tornadoes moved through the Tupelo area between 8:00 and 8:30 AM this morning, the TPSD Central Administration has been closely monitoring the situation.
As of 8:50 AM, there is no reported damage at any of the Tupelo Schools or with any of the buses operated by our schools. Students in all schools are presently sheltered according to the TPSD Safety Plan. Students will remain in these areas until the tornado warning is lifted.
We will stay in close contact with the National Weather Service and other local weather agencies. We will continue to carefully monitor the situation and to take appropriate action in order to protect the safety of all TPSD students.
