As part of the reorganization of TPSD’s central office, a number of responsibilities have been transitioned and reassigned. In addition to her other duties, Mary Ruth Wright directed our district’s gifted program over the summer. She has done an excellent job of maintaining the program’s integrity and making improvements in the process. However, with the beginning of the school year, the State Department of Education is increasing the complexity of its directives concerning least restrictive environment and the monitoring required by Mattie T and IDEA. Therefore, I am asking Mrs. Wright to center her efforts on improving student services in this area and ensuring the quality and correctness of those services.
Direction of the gifted program has been reassigned to Diana Ezell. Mrs. Ezell will work with Mr. Meadows in enhancing the gifted curriculum with the implementation of Norman Webb’s Depth of Knowledge and Willard Daggert’s Rigor and Relevance Framework. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Mrs. Ezell at the district’s central office.
I want to thank Mrs. Wright for working diligently with our gifted program. Her dedication to our district’s mission is apparent in every endeavor.
