Status of the Facilities Utilization Study (August, 2006)

Overview:

The Administration of the Tupelo Public School District (TPSD) is continuing its careful study of how to most effectively utilize the district’s elementary facilities.

Important TPSD Facilities Utilization Goals:

  • To make all of our elementary schools as demographically alike as possible

  • To create stability in our elementary attendance zones.  It is the district’s goal for students to be able to attend the same school(s) throughout their elementary years with an absolute minimum of change or disruption.

  • To make it possible to expand the 15 to 1 student/teacher ratio to grades 2 and 3

Latest
Action:

At the present time a subcommittee of the Facilities Utilization team is working to develop an elementary facilities utilization plan tentatively for presentation to the Board of Trustees by the end of September, 2006.  It is the intention of the TPSD to have such a plan ready for implementation at the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.
