Inappropriate Behavior

As a parent and grandparent, I am always concerned when a student’s behavior creates a situation that is potentially harmful. Students at Tupelo Middle School recognized inappropriate behavior today and reported it to school officials.
A student brought an unloaded, cap pistol to school today. This device looked like a regular handgun, but had been heavily modified (a solid barrel) and prevented the use of bullets or projectiles. It is used to start track and field events and will only fire caps. The student did not make threats toward others; however, the student was immediately suspended from school and turned over to the police.
We are so very proud of our students and staff who are working together to maintain a safe learning environment for all. Thank you for your continued support of the Tupelo Public School District and all of its success.
