The safety and security of the students and staff of the Tupelo Public School District is of utmost importance. We are dedicated to ensuring that the schools of this district are safe places in which to learn and work. A safe and secure environment is a prerequisite for effective learning. Threats to the safety and security of people and property can arise from natural hazards or from human actions. These threats can be reduced or eliminated entirely when safety standards address specific needs, such as facilities, policies and procedures, staff certification, safety planning and crisis response training.
The Tupelo Public School District employs eleven full-time security officers and approximately thirty part-time officers. Two of the eleven full-time officers are certified School Resource Officers (SRO) and seven of the officers are certified School Safety Officers (SSO).
