Carver Places 13th in the Nation for Recycling Efforts

Date:November 03, 2006

Carver Elementary was honored by the City of Tupelo for being one of the Top 50 Collection Schools of the 2006 Return the Warmth Program during Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup.  In fact, Carver placed 13th in the nation and was the only school in Mississippi to place in the top 50!

Students collected 1,235 pounds of plastic to be recycled.  This amounts to an average of 92 pounds of plastic per child.  Each student received a fleece pullover and the city received 2,000 fleece pullovers for children who need coats for the cold months ahead.

Congratulations to all students and staff!
