Today, at approximately 10:30 a.m., we implemented a lockdown at Lawndale, Pierce Street, The Fillmore Center, and Tupelo Middle School because of a robbery at The Renasant Bank on South Gloster. The lockdown for this incident was lifted at about 11:00 a.m.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., 911 received a call that contained a threat toward THS. This call gave a description of the individual, a description of the vehicle, and indicated that the vehicle was allegedly headed toward the high school.
When THS was notified, the Crisis Management Plan was immediately implemented. Students were held in their classes, a security check was made of the campus and perimeter security was increased. Every thing was found to be secure and normal operations of the school resumed. Heightened perimeter security remained in place.
District personnel and students followed the appropriate procedures for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all. We are pleased with the quick efficient response of all those who helped take care of our students.
