Pierce Street Elementary School celebrated Arbor Day on February 8th. Mrs. Anthony's 2nd grade class presented the play, "ABC'S of Arbor Day." Each letter of the alphabet represented a specific tree and its contribution or importance. Students sang "Plant a Tree for Tomorrow", and Sally Norman read the poem "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer. Felicity Holmes, Malcolm Lust, and Kianna Ware read a proclamation to Mr. Steve Ludt, Tupelo Public School District School Board Member, describing his service and dedication to Pierce Street.
The Pierce Street PTO bought trees and markers, which have been planted on our front lawn in honor of Mr. Ludt and Dr. Debbie Davis, principal of Pierce Street, for their commitment to Pierce Street. A very special thanks to Jeff Ware with the Mississippi Forestry Commission for planting the trees, and helping to make out Arbor Day one to remember.
