Welcome to Milam Elemenatary School, Home of the Ripples! Milam is currently the academic home of 620 students in grades four through six. Fourth graders make the transtion from lower elementary into self-contained classrooms, while fifth and sixth grade students are taught by two-teacher teams. Milam strives to be a Professional Learning Community, and our dedicated professional staff is comprised of 30 homeroom teachers, five Special Education teachers, five Gifted Education teachers, and five specialized staff members who teach Spanish, Physical Education, Music, Art, and Computer. Sixh grade students participate in the D.A.R.E. program second semester. Reading is of paramount importance to Milam students. Students and teachers participate in our Accelerated Reading and Reading Counts program, accruing points and receiving recognition weekly for books read and progress made in reading ability. Milam students also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of after-school programs which may include chorus, art, chess, sign language, creative writing, physical fitness, computer, and intramural basketball.
