On Thursday, December 20, 2007, seventeen Lawndale students represented their classrooms or teams in the Lawndale Spelling Bee which was held at the Tupelo High School Performing Arts Center. Students where chosen as representatives by winning their classroom or team bees which were held earlier in the year. The winners of the spelling bee were Kemile Simmons (1st place), Austin Ragsdale (2nd place), and Jacob Jones (3rd place). The winners represented Lawndale at the Tupelo Public School District Spelling Bee in January.
