Thanks to a Forestry Commission grant in partnership with funding by the Lawndale PTO, students at Lawndale Elementary School can now enjoy a $31,000 Nature Center that features a covered amphitheater, large group seating, picnic tables, a walking track and an educational nature trail. The space has already been used for a concert and a PTO meeting! Expanded plans call for classroom instruction and exploration, after school activities and visits by guest scientists/naturalists. Lawndale salutes the Forestry Commission, the PTO and. particularly, two Lawndale parents whose vision made the Nature Center a reality: Amy Blackmon and Jeff Ware.
