Reading Fair 2008 once again offered all students the opportunity to share their favorite book through a storyboard display. Storyboards were submitted in an individual, group, or family division. The book chosen by the student had to be age appropriate and in the fiction category. Students had to know the story plot, characters, problem and solution, as well as the basic information, title, author, etc. A group of impartial judges had the difficult task of deciding on winners.
Students at Lawhon competed in all divisions, some working with teachers for group entries; some working with family members. All students who entered a board had a great time both choosing the book and working on the board. Hannah Elliott, the second place winner for 3rd grade invididual, stated that the hardest part was deciding how best to paint the board to illustrate the title of the book.
All first place winners will participate in the District Reading Fair competition on January 28. Winners from district competitions then go to the regional competition held in February. Winners from the regional competition compete in the state fair held in May.

Noah Hunt and Ross Weeden wait patiently to set up their boards
for judging.
